Adrenal Gland
Pituitary Gland
The endocrine system represents a complex interplay of the hormone secreting glands of the body. Hormones travel through the blood stream and stimulate many effects on various bodily organs.  We treat disorders of all of the endocrine glands including the pancreas, pituitary, parathyroid, thyroid, adrenals, ovaries and testes.
Diabetes is the most common endocrine disease; the pancreas plays a role in that insulin secretion is decreased.  However, many other organ systems are involved and thankfully we have many different drugs to treat the various pathophysiologic defects that occur in diabetes.
Thyroid Disease/Parathyroid Disease
Some common disorders of the thyroid include hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, thyroid nodule, goiter, and thyroid cancer.   The parathyroids represent four pea-sized glands that are located behind the thyroid.  The parathyroids control calcium metabolism.
 Adrenal Glands
The adrenals glands are small important tissues that rest on top of the kidneys.  The adrenals secrete hormones that are necessary for life including stress hormones (cortisol and catecholamines), hormones that control salt and water, and sex hormones.
The ovaries secrete estrogen and progesterone.  One of the common ovarian disorders we treat is polycystic ovarian syndrome; this syndrome is manifest by insulin resistance, changes in menses, hirsutism, infertility and acne.
 Pituitary Gland
The pituitary gland, representing the master gland of the body, is located at the base of the brain just below the nerves to the eyes.  The pituitary secretes hormones that control the other endocrine glands in the body.  The pituitary can be affected by tumors, usually benign and hormonal under- or over-secretion.
The testes secrete testosterone, male hormone, and may be low due to diseases intrinsic to the testes or the pituitary.  Some men lose testosterone production with age, obesity and Type 2 Diabetes.  We treat testosterone deficiency in an effort to achieve normal physiologic levels.

By restoring physiologic levels of testosterone, men receive many benefits including an improved state of well-being, more energy, better muscle strength, improved bone mass and improved sexual function.
Osteoporosis is a disease in which the bone structure becomes weakened.  There are many different causes of osteoporosis, many of which are metabolic.  The most common cause is the general bone loss that occurs with aging and worsened in the post-menopausal state.  We now have various different medications to treat this disorder including those that help to preserve bone mass and other that actually build back bone.
