Andrea Hayes M.D.

iWith nearly three decades of experience as an endocrinologist, a lifetime of experience as a person living with type 1 diabetes, and a sharp eye for the comedy and complexity of medicine, Andrea brings a rare combination of credibility, candor, and wit to every conversation.
Over the years, she has spoken widely to both medical professionals and patient audiences, educating, entertaining, and translating complicated medical subjects into language people can actually understand. Her public speaking experience includes educational programs, patient advocacy discussions, professional presentations, and consulting work with pharmaceutical companies throughout the Southeast.
Andrea is especially interested in conversations that explore the human side of medicine: what it means to live inside an unreliable body, how doctors and patients misunderstand each other, why humor matters in illness, and how science, storytelling, and common sense can coexist.
